The following is the latest information for those attending the Opera at Jimbour. While opera may not be for everyone the day is very enjoyable with an atmosphere more like a country picnic race meeting.

Jimbour is a historic property on the Darling Downs with an airstrip. We visited during a President's Fly-in years ago and at least one Airtourer has flown in for the opera in the past.
More information on the event can be found at the Opera Queensland or the Jimbour site.

Entry is free.

Jimbour has given us permission to land there. Unfortunately Jimbour is not in ERSA but I've been able to find out the following:

Designation YJBR
26-57-35 S (-26.959943)
151-14-10 E (151.236113)
1240 feet MSL (378 m MSL)
Magnetic Variation:
10.3 E

08/26 2643 ft (806 m)

Now for the challenging bit - last light. I've done a quick calculation based on Caboolture. Last light is 0739UTC so landing no later than 5:29PM local time. Jimbour is about 95NM, i.e. about an hour's flying, i.e. setting course at 4:30PM. The show starts at 2PM and goes for about 2 hours. Realistically those with some distance to fly will have to leave the performance early. I'd suggest that we get someone to call us, assuming mobile coverage, when the performance finishes so we can start and depart without being a nuisance. Obviously we start anyway at our own predetermined latest start time.

The entry to the opera is free, food is available but you're welcome to bring your own picnic. (Bring picnic rug or folding chairs.) It's a licenced event so no BYO alcohol, not even for the navigator passenger.
