When Henry Millicer designed the original Airtourer, VH-FMM, he deliberately incorporated design features to improve safety and survivability in the event of an accident. These features were refined when he redesigned the Airtourer in metal for Victa. In 1978 he presented a paper to the Australian Medical Association and the Royal Aeronautical Society where he outlined these design features and took the opportunity to review accident statistics from in service operations.
